Emergency AlertThis page summarizes the current status of Wilton’s response to the COVID-19 crisis. In conjunction with our Emergency Management Director we shall be continuing to update the website and reassure our residents that we are committed to timely and ongoing communications regarding this Pandemic.

We continue to actively monitor the COVID-19 situation which is rapidly evolving by reviewing the updates prepared by both the CDC and the DHSS which we can pass along to our residents via our Town website. Like other New Hampshire communities we intend to do our part to “flatten” the curve of this Pandemic.

The Town of Wilton Emergency Management Director, David Boissonnault, in conjunction with the Town Health Officer, Paul Branscombe, is strongly recommending the immediate cancellation of all large gatherings and events until further notice. This recommendation is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Wilton Police Department

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 concerns the Wilton Police Department will be limiting face-to face contact with the public. We are asking residents to avoid coming directly to the lobby to speak with an officer regarding non-emergency reports. We are recommending these reports be made by phone.  Things such as Pistol Permit Applications and Alarm Permit Applications can be mailed to our mailing address of P.O. Box 183, Wilton, NH 03086.. We will continue to respond as normal to all emergency calls.

Thank you for your patience. Stay well.

The Town Hall continues to be closed, therefore the only time we are issuing is Saturday and Sunday, 4:00-5:00 p.m. as we usually do. We are setting up a table outside and practicing social distancing and hygiene.

The Fire Station remains closed to outside organizations for meetings.

Town Clerk’s Office (updated May 20, 2020)

The Wilton Town Clerk & Tax Collector’s office is closed for walk-in service until further notice.  We are striving to keep helping residents while maintaining social distancing for everyone’s safety and well-being. We can be reached via email at [email protected] or by phone at 603-654-9451 x1. If you call and get our voicemail, please leave a message and we will call you back as soon as possible.  If the phone system doesn't allow you to leave a message it is because the messaging system is currently busy taking a message, so please try again in a few minutes.  The phone call and email volumes have been very high so we ask that you be patient when requesting information.  We assure you we are trying to help everyone as quickly as possible.  We unfortunately cannot guarantee same-day service for any motor vehicle registrations at this time so please plan accordingly.

Drop boxMotor Vehicle Renewals – motor vehicle renewals can be processed online via the town website.  Payments can be done via charge card or ACH.  We have also mailed out vehicle renewal notices to owners with March, April, May and June expirations.  The notices have been sent to residents who registered their vehicles in Wilton last year.  Paperwork and payments can be mailed to our PO Box 83 Wilton address or deposited in our drop box located to the right of our front door (see photo).  The registrations will be processed and mailed to you with your stickers.

Boat Registration Renewals – Boat registrations can be renewed through the Town Office or the State of NH.  Registering in Wilton will cost an additional $5, but the town gets to keep that money, and sometimes some of the other fees listed on your renewal mailer.  If the renewal is done through the DMV, the state keeps all the fees collected (none are remitted to the town).

-- Registering in Wilton:  Sign the “Owner’s Copy” of the renewal mailer received from the state. Put it in an envelope with your check for the amount that is on the renewal mailer + $5.00 additional to cover our fees.  Be sure to include your phone number on your check and also include a self-addressed stamped envelope for us to return your registration and stickers to you.  You can put it in the drop box outside our front door or mail it to us at Town of Wilton, PO Box 83, Wilton, NH 03086.

-- Registering with the State:  Sign the “Owner’s Copy” of the renewal mailer received from the state.  Mail it to the address indicated on the mailer along with your check for the amount stated on the mailer.  They will process it and mail your stickers to you.

Driver’s Licenses – Any driver’s license due to expire in the months of March and April can receive a six-month extension.  Drivers can make this change over the phone at 603-227-4020.  A photograph needs to be on file in order to process any extension. Commercial licenses are not eligible for an extension.  The Real ID Drivers License Program deadline has been extended to October 2021.

Dog License Renewals – dog license renewals can be processed on line via the town website.  Payments can be done via charge card or ACH.  You can also mail renewal requests (along with your payment) to PO Box 83, Wilton, or utilize the drop box located to the right of our front door.  Late fees now apply so for the month of June renewal fees are $8.50 if the dog is spayed/neutered, $11 if the dog is not spayed/neutered, or $4 if owner is age 65 or older.  The dog license will be processed and mailed to you with a dog tag.

New Dog Licenses – Put a rabies certificate in the drop box (located to the right of the front door) with a check for $7.50 if the dog is spayed/neutered or is a puppy, $10 if the dog is not spayed/neutered, or $3 if the owner is age 65 or older, as well as a note with your phone number, address, owner name and birth date.  The dog license will be processed and mailed to you with a dog tag.

Tax & Water/Sewer Bill Payments – Payments can be paid online via the town website, mailed or left in our drop box located to the right of our front door.

For help with anything not covered above, you can call our office at 654-9451 x1 or send an email to [email protected] .   We have been spending a lot of time on phone calls, so  please leave a message if we don't answer.  And be sure to also leave your phone number so we can call you back.  We ask for your patience while we adjust to this new way of doing business.

Stay safe!

Recycling Center

We are open to the public during the normal operating hours.

Tuesdays      6:30 am to 4:30 pm
Thursday      11 am   to 8:00 pm
Friday             8 am to 11 am
Saturday       8 am   to 5:00 pm

We are now providing "Senior Hours" (and for those with health conditions that put them at increased risk) on Tuesday morning from 6:30 am to 9 am. We cannot police who comes in, but we are asking for consideration of our seniors during this Tuesday time.
 • Remember fees apply to items that are placed into the landfill containers except kitty litter.
Please sort your recyclables, especially plastics, at home.
Household trash, including food waste, needs to be placed through the trash window not in the landfill containers. It seems that some folks think  we are still incinerating waste, which is not the case. The incinerator was dismantled in 2009, at which time this center started transferring all the waste off the premises.
Keep in mind to recycle. We would rather not have to check bags before they are deposited in the trash window.
For fee based items, including the scale fees,  please use a check if possible. We prefer not to handle cash at this time. Don’t forget to have your phone number on the check.
Brush must be 5” in diameter or less per Solid Waste Regulations.
Household Hazardous Waste Day is planned for Saturday June 27th from 8 am to 12 pm.  Click HERE for more information.

We have several request for our protection and yours:
Please properly sort your plastics. Remember #1’s are clear or see-through and bottles only, #2’s are solid color jugs, containers and bottles.
Milk jugs that are translucent are separate and are deposited through the window by the trash window.
The less we handle the plastics to retrieve contaminates out of the bags, the safer we and you will be in that area.
Please sort all recyclables at home so less time is spent around other people.
Please read the signs in the glass area.
Please push your trash bags off the table, but in doing so, look down first to make sure the skid steer is not at the window. There is no door on that machine, therefore without caution the trash bag lands in Bruce’s face.
Keep a distance as much as possible and please do not socialize, as we are trying to facilitate keeping everyone moving along to avoid congested areas.
We are doing all we can to provide service to you under these circumstances while keeping ourselves and you as safe as possible. We appreciate your consideration and cooperation in these challenging times.  We are always open to suggestions. Have questions?? Just ask. We are happy to assist you.

Wilton Library

The Library board of Trustees has made the decision to close the library until further notice. It is our duty to do all that we can to prevent the spread of illness in our town. The closing takes effect immediately and will be in place as long as the situation demands. We know that this places our dedicated library users in an unhappy situation. But the library will do all it can to provide books and services remotely while we are closed. More on that will be available on our website soon.

We are extending all due dates, ending the charging of overdue fees, and freezing all reserves. We ask that you keep currently checked out books at home and do not place any books in the book drop outside the library. As most other libraries are also closed, this also applies to inter-library loan. Your librarians will be working hard to keep you in reading materials through our digital collections.

We will also continue to keep you up to date with the information you need, and help with the census in the next few days. We love our town and will do our very best to work with you and the town as we go through this crisis.
