Wilton Fire Department Now Issuing Seasonal Campfire Permits With Inspection

Wilton, June 8, 2021 –

Effective today, the Wilton Fire Department will now be offering Seasonal Permits for Category I and Category II campfires, inspection required. Recent upgrades to the State of New Hampshire on-line permit system allow more effective ways to communicate with folks who obtain permits for outdoor burning, including email and text notifications. Individuals are required to follow all State of New Hampshire law related to outdoor burning which is widely available for review on the Town of Wilton Fire Department’s web page.

Permits for outdoor burning are available at the Fire Station at 102 Main Street during the week from 8 AM – 4 PM and on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 4 PM -5 PM each day. Individuals who choose to purchase an on-line permit through the State of New Hampshire system are advised to read all of the information carefully, print and sign the permit as required. Individuals who rent property are required to obtain written landowner permission each calendar year, a form is available on our web page. Additionally, permittees are required to call our Dispatch Center at (603) 673-1414 each time they are to kindle a fire to ensure that the fire danger levels are safe to do so.

To schedule an inspection of your proposed burn area, please contact our office at (603) 654-6758. We appreciate everyone’s anticipated cooperation of these rules and regulations, thank you.

Wilton Fire Department  Now Manages All  Mechanical and Liquid Storage Permitting and Inspections

February 19, 2021
Contact: Fire Chief Donald R. Nourse

Effective Monday, March 1, 2021 the Wilton Fire Department will transition all Mechanical and Liquid Storage Permitting and Inspections from the Building Department to the Fire Department in the Town of Wilton. Since January of 1997 these processes were managed by the Wilton Building Inspector, largely due to the fact that the Wilton Fire Department was 100% volunteer and did not have staff required to keep up with the demands of customers as well as the follow-up actions often required. With the addition of a full-time Fire Chief approved at Town Meeting in March of 2020, the Department now has the ability to resume overall responsibility of reviewing and approving permits as well as performing the required inspections related to oil, gas and other solid fuel appliance installations, gas and oil piping and liquid storage tank installations and removals. Customers will still complete applications and submit payment to the Town Hall as in the past; however, the Fire Department now manages the overall processes.

Updated permit applications and more information can be found on the Town of Wilton’s website:
