How to obtain a Fire Permit and when permits are not required

-A A +A

IT'S THE LAW

FIRE PERMITS REQUIRED:

Burning permits may be obtained from the Town Office during business hours or from the Fire Department between 4PM and 5PM on Saturday, Sunday & holidays.

Permits will be issued only to the land owner.  Land owners may designate in writing, a specific individual to apply for a permit on their behalf that can be kept on file (for each calendar year).  Be aware that the Town Office and the Fire Department will each need a letter from the land owner.  It is the land owners’ responsibility to withdraw this permission should it no longer be in affect.  Please keep in mind burning permits have to be applied for each and every day burning is to occur.

PRIOR TO BURNING land owners or their designee please call the Milford Area Communication Center (MACC base) at 673-1414 to notify them of burning.

FIRE PERMITS NOT REQUIRED:

Permits are required for all burning with the exception when there is at least two inches of complete snow coverage for 100 feet surrounding the site. ONLY in this circumstance is the property owner/designee not required to have a paper permit.

PRIOR TO BURNING land owners or their designee are required to call the Milford Area Communication Center (MACC base) at 673-1414 to notify them of burning.

Gas grills or charcoal fires in a container up and off the ground on your own property do not require a fire permit.
